Lucky Luke 01 — La Mine d'or de Dick Digger

"La Mine d'or de Dick Digger" is the very first official album of the legendary Belgian comic book series Lucky Luke, created by the artist Morris (Maurice De Bevere). While it was published as a standalone album in 1949 by Dupuis, the story originally ran as a serialization in the comic magazine Spirou between 1947 and 1948.

The Plot

The story introduces us to the iconic cowboy, Lucky Luke, "the man who shoots faster than his shadow." He crosses paths with an old, eccentric gold miner named Dick Digger. Dick is ecstatic because he has finally struck a massive vein of gold in the hills.

Unfortunately, Dick’s celebration is cut short. After getting a bit too rowdy at a local saloon, he catches the attention of two dangerous bandits, Joe Blur and his accomplice. The criminals track Dick down, rob him of his map and his gold, and leave him with amnesia. It is up to Lucky Luke, alongside his faithful and highly intelligent horse Jolly Jumper, to hunt down the bandits, recover the treasure, and restore the old man’s memory.
