RSLogix 500 Projects: Ladder Logic for Industrial Automation

With ever compounding modernization and Urbanization all over the world, The need for people to drive and maintain  this modernization also plummets. But how reliable or efficient are humans solely when it comes to running the processes? I guess a known fact  to all of us is that human error is inevitable and humans have limits. So to fill this gap, this is where Automation comes in. Automation is the application of technology, programs, or robotics to perform tasks, processes, or procedures with minimal to no human intervention. Automation can be used at the industrial level to manage  simple tasks like packaging food or other smaller items  to much more complicated processes like desalination, oil and gas drilling etc.. . One of the ways automation can be applied in industrial processes is through PLC(Programmable Logic Controllers). A PLC acts as the industrial “brain” of automation, continuously monitoring sensors (inputs), running user-programmed logic, and controlling machinery (outputs) to automate tasks. PLC itself has various soft-wares  ranging from older soft-wares like Allen Bradley’s Micrologix500, Studio5000, Siemens TIA portal etc..

Over the past few months i have decided to dive in to this field of Industrial Automation, PLC  to be specific. I plan on proficiently learning at-least 3 of these soft-wares ie the above mentioned ones. My first stop on this journey is Allen Bradley’s RSlogix 500.Over the past 2 months I have intensely learned through courses and done about 10 practical and different  automation projects using this software. My projects range from digital filling stations, to Inventory management, Sensor Calibration etc..

On this article, I have attached a ZIP file containing about 10 projects. For each project, there is  a file containing the project description, a pdf of the program file and another containing the rslogix 500 program file itself.

Ps, All the projects are from Paul Lynn’s PLC Applied logic course on udemy but the programs themselves are my own.

Cheers!
